Hi list,

I'm sending this message due to the instructions on
http://mozilla.debian.net/. If this should go elsewhere, please let me
know.
I'm having an issue with icedove in Debian Squeeze/stable.

For Squeeze/Icedove/3.1, the page says to use

deb http://backports.debian.org/debian-backports squeeze-backports main

and

apt-get update
apt-get install-t squeeze-backports icedove

This, however, does the following:

[...]
The following packages will be REMOVED:
   icedove-l10n-de
The following packages will be upgraded:
   icedove
1 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 1 to remove and 108 not upgraded.
Remv icedove-l10n-de [1:3.0.10-1]
Inst icedove [3.0.11-1+squeeze15] (10.0.12-1~bpo60+1 Debian
Backports:squeeze-backports [amd64])
Conf icedove (10.0.12-1~bpo60+1 Debian Backports:squeeze-backports [amd64])

So it's trying to install 10.0.12-1 even though I clearly selected 3.1
on the web page, and it also *removes*

icedove-l10n-de

(and all other icedove-l10n-* - Packages, as it seems). This is BAD.

Whoever has the power to do this should either restore the functionality
to stay on the 3.1 branch with working l10n, or offer working l10n
packages for the 10.0 branch (the lack of l10n packages is why I didn't
want to upgrade to 10.0 so far).

Please, pretty please, somebody fix this quick. Forcing an English user
interface on elderly and non-tech-savvy users is a nightmare, and
forcing them to use outdated software where security-relevant bugs
aren't fixed any more isn't an option. Please help.

Thanks in advance,

Stefan
