System Crasher: I am running Debian <stable Wheezy> and I want to install <icedove> version <esr>

Hi Tony,

The 500 megs are because icedove unstable depends on a newer version of 
libc :((

  icedove : Depends: libc6 (>= 2.15) but 2.13-38 is to be installed
                  Depends: libffi6 (>= 3.0.4) but it is not going to be 
installed

I am lucky to have gotten the version (from experimental - before the 
relase of debian 7) that runs with stable:
     ii  icedove 17.0.5-1                           amd64

But I won't get any updates until there is a proper backport of icedove 
17 for stable debian ;)
