The attached screenshot shows how Iceweasel's start page has been looking for a few days. Apparently, this is how Iceweasel has turned.

I like Firefox and have promoted it back when it was *the* alternative to MSIE. I find the video cool. The ad shows in French for some reason. The English version appears to be "Keep the passion for a free and open Internet burning bright! #ChooseIndependent". I for one don't mind seeing some Firefox promotion... although this is supposed to be Iceweasel...

I also don't mind seeing a Google logo - that's a service to me and I can change it. I wouldn't even react if the ad incited me to diffuse it. And I probably wouldn't even react if it tried making it attractive for me to diffuse it on private media.

But please, if you go that far, proceed via some link or something. Do not directly include big logos from private media in my default start page, without even offering me to get rid it of them. When I see this start page on the main browser of an OS made by free software advocates, I shake my head in disbelief. And we're pretending to be advocating independence...

Frankly, I am disappointed that Mozilla does this and consider this an upstream issue, but it seems that's what they want. Let us keep the passion for a free and open Internet burning bright and not follow them in that direction.
