Packaging GNU IceCat

Hi there,

I am writing this message for a few reasons. First, I would like to
introduce myself.

I have been working on the GNU project for about 6 years, as a GDB (GNU
Debugger) developer. I am currently the maintainer for the generic
probe support and the SystemTap SDT probe support inside GDB, and I also
run the GDB BuildBot. My story with Debian is much shorter: I decided
to begin contributing to (and really using) the project a couple of
months ago, and my first package (rnetclient -- Bug#784405) is still in
the process of being sponsored.

Now, to the point: I am very interested in packaging and maintaing GNU
IceCat (am I crazy? ;-). I know there is at least on ITP that turned
into an RFP a while ago (apparently the person gave up), but I don't
know of anyone who is actively doing this, and I think Debian should
really offer this package to its users.

I decided to send this message to ask if anyone in this group (a) is
working on packaging GNU IceCat (and haven't told anyone), (b) wants to
help in packaging it (I will most certainly need help, because this will
be my second package, and the first one was really trivial), or (c)
opposes to the idea of having GNU IceCat on Debian.

Having said that, I intend to start working on it this weekend, and I
will probably use Iceweasel's source package as a base. I also plan to
take the RFP bug for me.

Cheers,
