Adobe Flashplayer Problem

Hello,
          When I try to watch a video on the BBC or ABC I get a message 
saying that the adobe flashplayer
is obsolete and I should download a later version.
I do have the latest version. I enquired with the ABC and they said that 
Adobe no longer upgrades
Linux versions of their (Adobe) programs.

Is there a video player that will play the latest video formats ?

I am using Debian 8.1.
