    I asked myself the same question!
    dpkg -c gives for me the same result, but here is the install output

    ->> apt-get install -t jessie-backports firefox

       Preparing to unpack .../firefox_45.0.1-1~bpo80+1_i386.deb ...

       update-alternatives: error: alternative path /usr/bin/firefox doesn't exist
       dpkg: error processing package firefox (--configure):
        subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2
       Errors were encountered while processing:
        firefox
       E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

      ->>ls -l /usr/bin/firefox
         ls: cannot access /usr/bin/firefox: No such file or directory

      If this is not a bug, how do you explain that?
      I also tried with aptitude, and got the same result.
      I suppose that the link is not actually in the package, but is set by the
      post-install script, which may be the culprit

cheers,
