I'm not sure. My point is rather that patches to our package should be
documented at least in the form of adding pointers to discussion about
this patch. this makes it easier for us to track who has already been
trying to push that patch to upstream and what has been the progress so
far.

In this particular case it is claim that upstream would not care about
this. I find this hard to believe TBH and would have liked to verify it.
