    things to do:
    - update to Policy 4.0.0 (Toby or Tiago would be best)
    - maybe have Tobias and/or me comaintain it?
    - wait until #870790 is fixed in unstable
    
    maybe solicit user feedback, but it works in a short test for me,
    and the non-Linux architectures also seem to build it fine; this
    would also open up experimental for my intended experiments, no
    pun intended, with 2.2-beta
