I'll put this into the README somewhere:
ofono should work on Debian, out of the box. You can use python
scripts in ofono/(tests?) to verify it works for you. Then, put tui
into /my/tui, and libcmtspeechdata in /my/libcmtspeechdata. Boot the
system into X, run tui/ofone/xb and tui/ofone/xa scripts, and ofone
should come up, allowing voice calls. Test sms first, as they do
not
depend on pulseaudio. Voice does not yet work for me on Debian 8.
... actually better documentation would be nice... and I guess I'd
like some help there.

TODO
internal
move http://elektranox.org/n900/ to http://pkg-n900.alioth.debian.org
(check pkg-gnome)
...Could that be done? Then I could create an account and help with
the docs...

Power management is "good enough" to be actually usable. With 4.8
kernel kernel, we should actually have the processor enter the low
power modes. But.. those are kernel problems. We can solve
them, but we need working userland... and.
Best regards,
