I'd really like you to address this on net-snmp-coders at lists.sourceforge.net.
As i don't have any experience with GNU/kFreeBSD, I can't comment or test
your patches. On 5.4, your patch doesn't apply at all any more, the current
state can be found on http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/pkg-net-snmp/trunk, but
I have no clue if this compiles at all on kFreeBSD.

This has been caused by a bug in autoconf and has been fixed in sid.
