The last gnome 2 interface patch I saw removed the gnome 1 support.  A
large amount of the patch touched core nethack files for reasons not
directly related to gnome 2.  It also was for some old version of nethack.
In that state, it's not something we'd have time to deal with "merging"
(i.e. rewriting) and supporting.

If the patch you refer to is against 3.4.2, is just an interface patch, and
doesn't remove the gnome 1 support in the process, I'm sure we'd be glad to
look at it.  It's not clear that gnome 2 is any more reentrant than gnome
1, however.

We haven't had anyone send us a message directly about a gnome 2 patch
for 3.4.2.
