54 /proc/net/dev

when starting ntp, it fails to initialise, syslogs

Oct  6 11:17:11 worker-1 ntpd[26048]: socket(AF_INET6, SOCK_DGRAM, 0) failed on address 2001:470:921b:7839::17: Too many open files

Adding "ulimit -n 999999" to /etc/default/ntp gets past this issue, but ntp then segfaults:

bigrig worker-1:~# dmesg |tail -1
[2631618.701806] ntpd[25998]: segfault at e75c48 ip 40b25f sp 7fff69b84d50 error 6 in ntpd[400000+6a000]
