With the migration of octave2.1-forge_2006.03.17+dfsg1-3 to testing
yesterday, I wish to congratulate all people who contributed to the Debian
Octave packages, either in the mailing list discussions, bug report and
patches, or actual svn commits: we are ready for etch.

>From the 12 bugs still open against our packages, most of them are either
upstream-related or not critical at all. After the etch release, we should
concentrate ourselves on (1) packaging Octave 2.9.10 (whenever it comes out)
and making octave2.9 the default octave in Debian, (2) making all the other
packages work with octave2.9, and (3) packaging the new octave-forge with
the pkg support. The last item will be the most time consuming task, since
we need to build the infrastructure for automating the generation of
packages. Volunteers are, as usual, welcome.

I will be travelling for business reasons during the next two weeks, so do
not expect me to be very responsive. I will check my e-mail regularly
though.
