I'm sure you'll be comfortable working with people as Rafael and 
Thomas, they are doing a great job.

And, of course, you can go on working on packaging QtOctave yourself.
I'm sorry if I have exeeded in my offering for collaboration and seemed 
trying to take the control: that was not my intention, I was only trying
to emphasize the convenience of following the Debian Octave guidelines.
But I'm sure you are able to do it by yourself!

On the other hand, as for me (and I suppose for the rest of the people)
there is no impatience and you can take all the time that you need.
