Indeed, octave3.0 is the recommended version of Octave, so that it could
seem logical to drop the version number in the package name.  However, we
wish to keep the versioned name in order to distinguish octave3.0 from the
development branch octave3.1 when this later will be released.

We decided to drop the dummy package called "octave".  Actually, octave will
be a virtual package provided by all octave*.* packages.

Right now, octave is a dummy package provided by the octave2.9 source.  This
is one of the reasons we want to get rid of octave2.9 in sid as soon as
possible (and for this to happen we need your updated qtoctave package).
