Hi,
the current packaging can be found at
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=users/tweber/octave.git;a=summary
It is based on the octave.git repository we have on git.debian.org.
Unless anybody sees some real problem with the repo, I intend to push to
our normal repository soon. Uploads will go to experimental.
There are quite some TODOs, but for an experimental upload, none of them
are showblockers:
- Look whether http://bugs.debian.org/630835 is really fixed (Debug symbols
for .oct files)
- There are quite some lintian warnings about empty directories. This might be
a topic for a discussion with upstream (in general, Octave seems to have
lots of directories: with and without API, with and without version, with and
without architecture string). Part of the above number of empty directories
seems to be related to Octave's usage of libexecdir.
General rule for us: no version numbers, no API versions and the
architecture parts must be checked against policy 9.1.1.
- Check the following patches:
- dont_set_helvetica-3.1.diff
- normal-markersize.diff
Are they still necessary? At least the normal markersize patch was forwarded
to upstream as a bug, but it seems it never made it into a code change.
- Is octave.postrm still necessary?
- Is README.Debian still necessary? I think the only useful information is why
pkg.m needs to be in Octave and not in the -dev package.
- Check Octave's paths for multi-arch, policy 9.1.1
- Add the conflicts necessary to replace octave3.2
- Use the system arpack library instead of the bundled one.
Thanks
Thomas
