[Pkg-octave-devel] netCDF 4.1.3 and beyond

Dear maintainer of (one or more) netcdf related package(s),

I'm going to migrate ASAP current 4.1.1 version to 4.1.3 in sid. The new package
provides a new SONAME for the C interface and maybe you already noticed
that current netCDF is now splitted in a few different packages (one for
each language binding among C, C++ and Fortran and one for the libCF add-on)
to allow next (and future) smooth upgrades.

The migration could impact or not your package(s) (should not), and it would
be nice if you performed your tests against the 4.1.3 package available
_now_ in experimental.

As usual d-release is in CC and contacted for pre-alerting and asking
for a GO! at the right moment.

A final word about related issues on parallel-HDF5 and parallel-netCDF:
current netcdfpackage is a serial-only, and general idea is about patching
in order to separate sonames/libs (to allow a nice coexistence of serial/parallel
flavors), but it is not something that will happen anytime soon in the netcdf
world. Maybe it should be done in HDF5 before (some tests need to be
conducted, too).
