I guess it should have Autoload: Yes.

Yes, nan should have Autoload: No.  We might want to change the
package description, though, which has this warning:

   "Be warned that this package changes the way NaNs are handled in Octave!"

Something like this could be better:

   "This package changes the way NaNs are handled in Octave.  In order
    to use its functions, the user must to explicitly add the appropriate
    directory to the Octave's path."

and then add information on how to do it in README.Debian.
