Sounds good. We'd have to have a mechanism to dynamically add the
default-jre dependency to a substvar also to avoid maintaining a list by
hand in d/control.

I just did a test build with gcj again on amd64 and got the same exact
error, so it's definitely tied to gcj and not arch-dependent. I've
reported upstream bug #41652 [1] to see if we can get a configure test
of some kind added.
