I misunderstood, sorry. This is not about transitioning form gcc to llvm,
but about the JIT part of Octave.

Looking through the upstream bug report, it seems that disabling the JIT
part would be the most sensible solution should this become a real
issue. Having an unstable API in your development tools is just a
minefiled waiting for someone to take the wrong step.
