I ran the randn() command at the beginning of the testsuite. That
already fails. If run as /usr/bin/time -v octave, the maximum RSS is
reported as
        Maximum resident set size (kbytes): 1514904
So I think that this is really a memory issue and we should just reduce
the size of the matrix with random values (thereby speeding up the whole
testsuite).
