I hardly see how it can be a code problem. The only situation in which
it could be the case would be a code with conditionals depending on the
presence or not of the optimization flag. I don't remember seeing such a
thing in bwdist, but that needs to be verified.

So this is most likely a gcc bug, that ideally should be reported
upstream (and maybe creating a bug in the Debian BTS to track this in
Debian).
