I think this is a permissions problem; you will need to have write
permissions to the devices under /dev/infiniband. I think putting
yourself into the rdma group should be enough. (You can do a quick check
by running the tests as root; if they still do not work then there is
something else going on.).

I've also attached my half-written infiniband howto. It has some gaps in
it, but it should help you confirm that the basic infiniband
connectivity is working.

(Feel free to contribute stuff to the blank MPI section :) ).
