[Pkg-ofed-devel] current status of ofed and infiniband support

Dear All,

Apologies if this is way too simple a question (I have managed to use IB on
Debian without really understanding anything about IB :-).

A little over two years ago I got infiniband running on two machines with
Debian (mixture of testing and unstable). I followed

http://pkg-ofed.alioth.debian.org/

and got some additional help from Ana Guerrero.

I was going to update packages, etc, but in the list archives I found this
reply from Ana, from two weeks ago

http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-ofed-devel/2014-August/001441.html

where we are told the old repos are obsolete.

So does that mean that:

a) The instructions from page http://pkg-ofed.alioth.debian.org/ are also
mostly obsolete.

b) There is no longer an ofed package. ofa-kernel-sources is also no longer
needed.

c) The way to go is install packages opensm (which will also pull along
infiniband-diags and a bunch of others) from the Debian repositories. And
this should just basically work?

Thanks a lot,

R.

P.S. In case it matters, I think I do need opensm as I have no switch (just
direct connection between two machines with QLogic Corp. QLE7340 IBA7322
QDR InfiniBand HCA cards). But other packages, like ibverbs-driver-ipath
are no longer needed (or available)
