No, it's not the plan. It was probably not very clear mixed with all
the discussion.  I said if I were to work on that, I'd split it in
source packages because I wouldn't be interested in maintaining it
as a whole but that I was more likely to stop active maintenance
altogether.

A few weeks after, after some off-list exchanges, Benjamin Drung accepted
to take over pkg-ofed and maintaining rdma-core in Debian post-stretch.
This means a bunch of the actual packages: libmlx4, libibumad, libacm, etc
will disappear and they'll be provided by rdma-core together with some
new others (such as i40iw or hfi1)

On my side, I'm only working right now in making sure what's in the Debian
archive ships in stretch. This means mostly taking care of any RC bugs.
And after the release, I will leave all my extra activity too:
taking care of git repos, website, the mailing list, etc.
