[Pkg-openmpi-maintainers] Open MPI 1.3

Hi everyone,

with the release of 1.3 coming up, I'd like to address a concern I have:
I'm not sure whether 1.3 will contain soname changes in the library, so
we should take extra care with the new release. Currently, I'm trying to
add shlibdeps support to our package but need a little more time with
that. I guess it will help us in noticing when MPI gets incompatible
with previous versions and we need soname bumping. Unfortunately, I
probably will not finish this in time before the 1.3 release. (But I
try.)

So, what should we do? I'd prefer to add shlibdeps support first and
then update which may mean that we'll get some days behind upstream.
Since we're under a freeze, I do not see too much of a problem with
that. The alternative is to just package it; though I'm unsure if we
might break stuff in unstable, then. Any opinions?

Best regards
Manuel
