I've been working on implementing support for TIMER_CYCLE_COUNTER
support on alpha but it's not yet working. I wasn't sure if GETTIMEOFDAY
would work on alpha. Looking at the source and the fact that Open MPI
does not build on alpha (anymore), I have my doubts that it worked at
all on alpha; I just had the impression that it build but noone used it.

Do you use Open MPI on alpha? It would be great to know it's working as
expected on that platform since I wanted to remove it from the list of
supported platforms until I can get it to build again.

Best regards
Manuel
