I know nothing about Debian packaging, I’m afraid - however, I have been one of the lead OMPI developers since the project’s inception 12 years ago, so I know the code quite well. I’m willing to tackle this just because our users have cited it as a “hole” in our coverage, and we’d like to see it filled.

I looked at the link you sent me, but it doesn’t provide any context to understand what I’m looking at - not even a simple explanation of what repo system is in use (git, mercurial, svn,…?). Is there some “beginners” doc for new Debian package maintainers?
