Plan proposed by Guido is perfectly fine ! I remember using something 
like that for another package than OpenNebula.

Don't hesitate to push your changes to git.debian.org and describe 
branches used in :
http://wiki.debian.org/Teams/pkg-opennebula/GitWorkflow
