Yes, definitely go to the parrot-dev list for that. (An implementation 
of Io in Parrot would be great.)

They're packaged for sid (unstable), but I happen to know they build on 
etch (oldstable) too, since I run chroots for both. Can easily pass 
along the etch packages if you'd like, or point you at our debian 
packaging guide for Parrot.
