[php-maint] Question about PHP5 PHP-GD Library

Hi,

I do not know if this question may be dumb or not, but here we go:

Why is it that the PHP-GD (PHP5) library in Debian (Sarge) is not the bundled one from the PHP
original package?

What I mean is that functions like imagerotate() are not available on Debian's PHP5 GD Library
package and according to Zend imagerotate() is available on PHP>=4.3.x.

Why is that? I couldn't find any explanation anywhere, and that's why I resorted to email you
guys.
