Package: php5
Version: 5.1.6-1
Severity: wishlist
php5 could be compiled with --with-config-file-scan-dir=/etc/... option
The compilation with this option could simplify the installation,
removing and purging of php modules with their respective ini files.
Today, maintainer scripts must include code for editing a file (php.ini)
which do not belong to the module package.
Also, the maintainer scripts have to execute too much coding for
including/removing sections and comments at php.ini.
Please, see
http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.php-ini-scanned-files.php
This setting is only allowed at compilation time.
Today, upstream module extensions developers are relying on this feature
to easy and clean installation of the modules.
