Alright, as php5-json has no reverse depends (yet) and that php4-json
will be dropped as well, there is no need for a transitionnal package
(as php5-json would depend upon php5 already anyway).
So I'd suggest that your next php5 upload would be done with:
Provides: php5-json
Conflicts: php5-json
AFAICT there is no need for a Replaces as you won't ship the .so and
have it rather builtin.
The Conflicts has to remain until lenny+1.
In the meanwhile, I'm filing an RM bug on php-json-ext (the source
package).
