[php-maint] rebuilding etch php5 packages with OCI support?

Hello,

I need to get connectivity to Oracle database on a Debian Etch x86_64
installation. Oracle provides the Instant Client (OCI) [1], for which
PHP has support [2].

The Debian packages for PHP however were not compiled with OCI support.
I have been trying to modify the package source to obtain a set with OCI
support without much success (I can make a seperate post detailing the
problems).

Does anyone have good pointers on what to do to get OCI support? Anyone
been there before me maybe?
