hi martin, jean-luc,

if your problem is being caused by the bug referenced by jean-luc, then
i believe the patch mentioned also fixes it.  i took some sample php
code that caused segfaults, and after applying the patch it no longer
does.

i've made a tentative new version of php available at:

http://people.debian.org/~seanius/php5/sid/

note that this is for debian unstable.  i think there are issues with
the libgd2 libraries in etch and sid that will require you to either
upgrade a few other packages to sid or me to backport this to etch.
