huh, i'd swear that the plusses and minuses were reversed the last time
i looked at it.  oh well, carry on, nothing to see here.

i didn't see that on -internals, is it in some "internal-internal" list?
i'd be happy to chime in with some hopefully constructive ideas that i
have been thinking on the topic.
