Being the sponsor isn't a reason good enough to be in the uploader list.
You can upload (build using dpkg-buildpackage -k <pgp-key-id>) without
being there. So I don't understand your answer.

I will give Thierry 2/3 days to reply / do it first if he can (that
would be best, IMHO), then I might NMU the fix, yes.
