I would personally prefer if subversion is not used for new packages, but
that's just my opinion.
I don't think anyone has any objection, so feel free to add PEAR packages
under the pkg-php project umbrella.
While at it, I've just created a new mailing list, as discussed some time ago:
pkg-php-pear.
All packages should now use that address as the Maintainer field (probably
using a title of "Debian PHP PEAR Maintainers".) The plan is to try to reduce
the noise ratio on the main mailing list, while giving others the opportunity
to jump onto the train.
So, what's the purpose of this new ML:
People interested in maintaining PEAR modules should join this list, all
members should try to help each other when dealing issues and by reviewing
proposed packages (and their updates.)
Those members who also happen to be DDs should help sponsoring new packages.
The non-PEAR packages might actually want to be maintained under the collab-
maint umbrella, or if they are a bit bigger a new alioth project could be
requested (e.g. the pkg-symfony project also hosts some of the sub-projects
required by the Symfony framework.)
In any case, asking on this mailing list should do no harm, so feel free to do
it :)
Will later subscribe to that mailing list those who maintain a PEAR package
under the pkg-php umbrella so that nobody misses any new message. I.e. those
listed as Uploaders.
P.S. if you read this message "too soon" the mailing list might not actually
be there, it is going to take some hours before it becomes available.
Let's see how all this works.
Cheers,
