I'm still trying to figure out what is is about the php5 module that's breaking tie() in code running under mod_perl but haven't had any luck yet. I'm still not sure if this is a mod_perl, mod_php or Apache problem. It's pretty simple to reproduce given this information.

Are we sure this isn't another one of those libdb/libapr breakages?
