Don't change mysqlnd, but fill a bug against ftp.debian.org, since you
cannot have alternating packages with same priority:

commit 49cc1837e35bc4d4011eb66f80ebdf1477b331fd
Author: Ondřej Surý <ondrej at sury.org>

Move php5-mysqlnd to Priority: extra to make debcheck happy

Pushed now.

Either ask me to push, then pull, modify and push, or just do your
changes and push, I'll rebase on top of your changes.

Your vice versa (you do your changes localy, then rebase (git pull --rebase)).

There's some stuff documented (not by me, I am very very bad at
documenting :)) here: http://wiki.debian.org/PHP/GitUsage

What I do is that I sprinkle the git-buildpackage with little
pbuilder/cowbuilder magic. I have pushed them to php-maint-tools
repository.

Then I call: git-buildpackage --git-builder="pdebuild-unstable-amd64"

O.
