Can you please update php-smbclient to version 0.9.0 released Februar 2017:

    https://pecl.php.net/package/smbclient

It is stable and much faster due to internal caching of the connection.

It's used by several project (eg. Own/Nextcloud) and our own EGroupware to access Samba shares.
