Yes, I did notice (and that ought to be fixed) but root ought to be able
to write anywhere, unless he is running SELinux, which he does not
acknowledge. Is there anything else that can block root from writing?
Also, notice that he was able to create that temporary file. It is
/etc/postgresql/postmaster.conf on which the error occurs.
