I almost don't dare to point that out now, but.. keep in mind that
backport packages get removed as soon as their source package in Debian
testing is dropped. I (and from your original post, I'm assuming you as
well) have fallen into that gap with 8.2 from the backports. You have to
migrate your Postgres cluster whenever that happens, I think. Or live
with 8.2 without updates. Or use my repository to get updates.
Disclaimer: I think I understand and I certainly accept Debian's
policies regarding that issue, including those of the backports. This is
by no means a request to Debian or any of its community members.
