Hi, Riku:

The protobuf packaging repository is moving to a dedicated packaging
group on Alioth, which is working on the protobuf 3 release:

    https://alioth.debian.org/projects/pkg-protobuf/

The repository in collab-maint will probably be retired after protobuf 3
is uploaded to the archive.

If you're interested in helping with the protobuf package please join
the pkg-protobuf-devel mailing list and coordinate there with the other
folks working on protobuf 3.  IIRC, there are a lot of disruptive
upstream changes that make the update from protobuf 2.x to protobuf 3
not so simple.
