[Pkg-protobuf-devel] protobuf3 status

Hi guys,

Thanks for all the work on protocol buffers.  I used your work in progress to
build a set of (hackish !! [1]) proto3 packages via launchpad. [2]

I needed those to test proto3 compliance in our RProtoBuf package
(essentially: protobuf for R). Works well enough -- so with that:  What is
the status of proto3 for unstable?  Any plans?

[1] In essence I just turned java off as I don't need it, and then turned
gmock off. Not a thing a of beauty for c/c++/python work it should be
sufficient.  I used a pristine protocol buffers 3.0.0 upstream tarball.

[2] ppa:edd/misc; built for 14.04 (for use on Travis CI) and 16.04
