[Pkg-protobuf-devel] Bug#842158: protobuf-compiler: Considerer Recommend: libprotobuf-dev

Package: protobuf-compiler
Version: 3.0.0-7
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

libprotobuf-dev contains several standard .proto files included in the upstream
protobuf source. I was recently working with a (golang) project which imported
google/protobuf/descriptor.proto and was surprised to find this wasn't
available out of the box after installing protobuf-compiler.

I think this is analogous to gcc-6 having a Recommend on libc6-dev.

Thanks,
Ian.
