[MERGE] Revert local changes to debian_support.py; rewrite example using deb822.

Ok, here comes a change with more meat. Zack, I'm CCing you since I'm
explicitly reverting a change you introduced.

The deal is that debian_support.py is not "ours", and as explained in
the changelog, your wishlist is better served by deb822, and the change
broke updateFile(), which is one of the most useful things of
debian_support. (In a way, the Packages class of that module is a bit of
a private class.)

Please ack (or discuss against it ;).
