[Pkg-rpm-devel] Announcing the new "pkg-rpm" team

Hi everyone!

Thanks to an initiative from Arturo Borrero Gonzalez, we have created a
new team on Alioth to package RPM related packages in Debian.

While we're still using dpkg and apt in Debian (and we have no intention
to change that), it is still useful to maintain these packages. For
example, yum can be used as a debootstrap replacement to create a CentOS
or Fedora chroot from within a Debian system. Createrepo can be used to
maintain a yum repository from a Debian machine. Etc.

Here's the list of packages which are going to be team maintained:
- - createrepo
- - deltarpm
- - rpm
- - rpmlint
- - yum
- - yum-metadata-parser
- - yum-utils

If you maintain a package that is related (for example, if you intend to
adopt Alien, which is currently orphaned), then we warmly welcome you in
the pkg-rpm team on Alioth.

We don't intend to enforce strong packaging rules. Just use
git-buildpackage please, so that we have a common ground to work on, and
accept that anyone in the team can touch "your" package and upload.

As for myself, I am hereby volunteering for sponsoring any upload for
any team member that doesn't have upload rights.
