I just looked at the files in src/md5. The files md5.c and md5.h are of
course OK from the legal point of view (GPL2+), but unfortunately there also
is md5_loc.h from RSA. There are at least two problems with the licence of
that file:
- it does allow to "make and use" derivative works but not to redistribute
  them
- it has an advertising clause that seems similar to the advertising clause
  in the original BSD 4-clause licence. As far as I understood that makes it
  incompatible with GPL.
Hence, it really would be better if we could use the library from GNU
instead.
