-uc and -us are as for dpkg-buildpackage<br>
--git-debian-branch is only needed when you work on a branch different from<br>

I can report some success, I've figured out a sequence of operations that allow me to push patches into the "upstream" branch, and in the end generate the new .deb package from the "master" branch. Assuming that the new upstream version will be 1.0, here is the recipe:</div>
<div style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px"><div><br></div><div><br></div><div># git clone ...</div><div>git checkout upstream</div><div><br></div><div># 1. work,</div><div># 2. commit,</div><div># 3. goto 1.</div>

<div><br></div><div>git checkout master</div><div>git merge upstream/1.0</div><div><br></div><div>git dch --git-author -a -R -N 1.0-1</div><div># review, update debian/changelog to address 1.0<br></div><div>git commit debian/changelog</div>
<div># review, update, commit anything not in garmin-ant-downloader_1.0.orig.tar.gz</div><div>git tag debian/1.0-1</div><div><br></div><div># remove all uncommitted files e.g.: git clean -f -d -x</div><div>git-buildpackage -us -uc<br>
</div></div><div style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px"><br></div><div style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px"><br></div><div style="font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:13px">With this, I was able to create a new "0:20131008-1" version. It builds and works, but I would like to ask you guys to review my steps in detail before I push for real into the "upstream", "pristine-tar" and "master" branches. Thus I've archived my checkout and made it available here: <span style="font-family:arial;font-size:small"><a href="https://antpm.googlecode.com/files/garmin-ant-downloader-unpushed.tar.xz">https://antpm.googlecode.com/files/garmin-ant-downloader-unpushed.tar.xz</a> </span></div>
